Bath City Budget Deliberations Stalled on Teacher Pay

Bath's City Council held final budget deliberations for 1956-57 and stuck to a $100 across the board raise for teachers rather than the $300 sought by the Bath Board of Education. The Bath Teachers Club warned that without the higher increase, Bath would face a teacher shortage and higher long term costs for poor schools. The council also rejected a $5,000 request from the Bath Area Chamber of Commerce for a city planning survey.
