Morris Lerman a Portland junk dealer was arraigned on receiving stolen goods and found with no probable cause, discharged. Police tied him to Sherman Lewis in a copper wire theft from Central Maine Power Co with Lewis pleading guilty to larceny and other charges. Wright details include Mowry’s plea, a recovered 1941 Ford, and two drivers Oliver and Haines pleading guilty to license issues in separate incidents.

Obituary for Charles E. Curtis a long time Bath barber who operated a Center street shop until illness struck on September 17. He died Thursday evening at his son David H. Curtis’s Yar mouth home from coronary thrombosis. Born in Bath to Capt. John and Harriet Parks Curtis he lived here all his life and was active in Central church and its MEN’s club. He served as treasurer of Dunlap commandery K T and was a life member of Star and Montgomery lodges and Montgomery St Bernard R A C. He is survived by his son and another relative Lewis H. Curtis of Los Angeles California.
Ambrose M Curran arrived from Rockland to visit his family at Blind Cross. Troop 50 Y M C A voted a citywide campaign to destroy brown tail moth nests. Lovell Staples leads a three member committee with Eric Bartholomay Russell Stodder and Jenn Canacaris. Scouts track weekly patrol totals with containers. first week winner earns a woven whistle card. Cub Pack 535 toured Oakhurst Dairy observing jam jetty mayonnaise making and bottle filling. Eric Bartholomay Horace Morse attended the meeting aiming for tenderfoot rank. The troop met Saturday night to plan patrol cooking equipment for the Spring Camporee at Norway.
Winfield Ham of Union street is confined to his home by illness and is under the care of his physician.

The funeral of Charles E Curtis, Bath businessman, was held Sunday at the Curtis funeral home in Bath. Rev Raymond G Putnam officiated. Curtis, who died after an illness in Yarmouth, was elected for 25th consecutive year by Dunlap commandery. Burial was at Oak Grove. Plans to expand the Citizens' Committee for a New School to 1,000 members were discussed, with support from Sen Ralph O Brewster on potential Lanham Act funds.
C Rudolph Furber, 24 Bedford, woke about 12 30 a m after smelling smoke from a basement fire at his home on North and Lincoln streets. He alerted his wife and three children, sounded an alarm, and fire crews arrived promptly. Damage estimated in the hundreds, no water applied inside. Fire Chief Frates cites possible spontaneous combustion in basement waste. Furber praises the department for preventing greater loss. Another blaze on Middle Street Court involved a mattress near a window. Engine 4 extinguished flames quickly, with Chief Frates suspecting a smoking-related fire.
Word has been received of the death of Mrs Flora Parshley Stevens formerly of Bath who died March 19 at the home of her daughter Mrs Ray Blaney in Kittery. She was born in Bath in 1871, widow of Rollin Stevens, and survived by two brothers two daughters four sons and several in law relations.
