Experts predict electric arc welding will supplant rivets in steel skeletons, lowering costs and enabling single welded units. Steel parts cut to pattern reduce drilling and rivet hole alignment while delivering equal or greater strength and watertight, oilproof joints at about three fourths the cost of riveting.

At a joint convention led by Mayor Dean Alderman Arel and Councilmen Cutting Oliver presided, a committee sorted ballots for city marshal forester chief engineer and overseers of the poor. Ballots favored Fred F Hall for marshal Isaac Rideout for forester and Charles Parks for chief engineer with McCabe by a slim margin. Over 20 candidates for various posts including assist ant assessors and constables were named as appointments and ballots proceeded on multiple counts.
Mayor Dean and President Merrill named members for all committees during a Wednesday night session. The list includes accounts, charities and corrections, finance, fire, streets, ordinances, printing, public buildings, public lighting, schools, taxes, water works, athletics, insurance, special police, state aid and pensions, and licenses with specific aldermen and councilmen assigned to each panel.

At a Bath Red Cross home service meeting the committee voted to hold a card party the week after Easter to raise funds to replenish the loan closet. The location and organizers to be announced. The closet holds sheets pillow cases nightgowns hospital shirts towels blankets nursing supplies and medical items.

V.F.A. plans a minstrel at the Columbia theatre on April 20 with John Shaw directing and Herbert I. Anderson as manager. Leyi T. Thompson handles advertising Edward Miller is stage manager Frank T. Turner treasurer and Frank J. Farrin serves as interlocutor. First rehearsal occurred Wednesday night with another set for Monday.
Loyal Girls class of People's church will host a supper for the Corliss Street basketball team of the Church league if they defeat the Universalist team Saturday night, per a statement to the Sporting Editor on Wednesday night.
Walter W R Bartlett of Mattawamkeg shared experiences from a canoe journey through the west branch and Allegash with the Winter Street church Men's Club on Friday night. He described the wild country, local game and fish, and travel methods. Refreshments followed.
