Puffer Named Sheriff to Fill McClure Vacancy
William T. Puffer sewing machine agent and former deputy sheriff in Tan cock and Sagadahoc counties was appointed by Governor Brewster to succeed Sheriff J Horace McClure. Born June 1, 1869 in Harrington he has served as a state detective and as a deputy sheriff in multiple counties. He is active in Acadia lodge K of P Bath and Cherokee tribe LO.L.M Bar Harbor. His appointment requires executive confirmation. A flock of geese passed over the city Tuesday evening estimated at about 100 birds flying low and noisy.

The Bath Y M C A Church League closes its 1026 27 season with plans for the annual banquet and preceding track meet. The league grew over five years to inspire sportsmanship social activity and church attendance among 135 participants this past year. Prohibition Officers Nab Reed In Liquor Sting
Federal agents John P L Crosby of Bath and Ned Danforth of Auburn arrested Clarence A Reed 81 Court Street Tuesday morning on federal prohibition charges after a staged liquor delivery. A roll of about $500 was seen as payment for the planned shipment from Reed’s home, with Reed taken to Portland for arraignment before U S Commissioner Gould.

Span four Kennebec bridge floated to piers four and five
A historic river lift moved the 880 foot span onto piers four and five in Kennebec, Maine. Tug Seguin and the trio McClintic Marshall engineers oversaw the operation with the Se guin Ajax Betsey Ross Islesford and others guiding the massive steel section into place beside gas works and ferry slips while spectators watched from Bath waterfront. The span weighs about 1000 tons and stands 42 feet high, marking a significant milestone for the project.
