Bath Masons plan to attend the Oct. 27 meeting of Tranquil Lodge at Kora Temple Lewiston under Maine Grand Lodge dispensation. Arab Patrol of Korea Temple will present the Blue Lodge degree team in the Master Mason degree. Supper 5 to 7. meeting at 7:30 with guest Ervin E J Lander.
Miss Flossie M Beals of North Street visited Sunday with her brother and sister in law Mr and Mrs Harry A Beals of Wiscasset.
Teachers from Dike and Washington Street Primary attended a reception at Dike School during the PT A meeting last Wednesday with about 85 present. Officials announced new room mother volunteers and a membership drive while a spelling bee entertained attendees. Open house at Dike School is slated for November 16.
Mrs Daniel Matter was elected president of District 3 for two years at the District 3 and 7 meeting in Camden. Mrs Loring Small was named secretary treasurer and Mrs Wilbur Hilton vice president for the district. The Camden High school event drew 100 members with representation from North Center South End Huse and West Bath P T A s. Speakers included Camden town manager Percy Keller and Mrs Raymond Ebert retiring president of District 7. Supper was served at Camden grade school. Workshops followed the evening session led by Mrs Maurice Hutchins and Mrs Dole. Additional state board members attended.
Mrs Stephen Plant of Ridgewood New Jersey returned home Sunday after visiting Mr and Mrs Chester Plant and Mr and Mrs Wallace Plant on High Street and Mrs Fred Cary in East Brunswick during a Bath trip.
Miss Dorothy Bryant of Augusta spoke to members of the School Health Council Public Health Association and others at City Hall about sodium fluoride demonstrations to prevent tooth decay. The Bath program runs 19 days in January aiming to treat 840 children with four applications across ages three to eight, under supervision of dental hygienists.
Maurice A. Libby of the Bath Water District received a letter from E. L. Tebbetts Spool Co. thanking the district for lending eight inch hydrant piping after a February fire. Tebbetts praised the district for enabling the plant’s quicker reopening and returning work to the town. The pipe will be shipped to Bath Water District.
Karl Backman of Morse high school junior class is hospitalized at the Osteopathic hospital in Portland following an appendectomy procedure.
At Grace Cathedral in San Francisco on Saturday at 5 30 PM, Helen Marie Richards and Edward Sewall Jr. exchanged vows in a ceremony led by Bishop Karl Morgan Block. The bride wore an embroidered Chinese silk gown with a three quarter sleeve design, carried lilies of the valley and stephanotis, and carried a cameo necklace from her mother. The bridal party included Mrs. Richard H. Kiger as matron of honor and bridesmaids from Oklahoma Colorado Massachusetts. The reception was held at the groom’s San Francisco home with white chrysanthemum decorations. The couple will honeymoon in Coronado California.
University of Maine student Fred Bolduc spent the weekend with his wife at their residence on Turner Court.
The East Boothbay Methodist church hosts a Missionary Institute Friday evening with Rev Dr Edwin T Iglehart as speaker. Iglehart, a longtime Japan educator and church leader, helped train leaders at Aoyama Gakuin and directed evangelistic work in Tokyo and Hirosaki. A Bath area delegation plans to attend.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd A Losier of 44 Pratt Street were honored with a housewarming Friday night at their new home. Friends presented gifts as games were played and refreshments were served by Mrs Horatio White and Mrs Charles Rogers of Brunswick. Attendees included numerous Bath and Woolwich residents and relatives with ties to the Losier family.
Donna Gayle Weston daughter of Mr and Mrs Waldo Weston Jr hosted a birthday party Friday at her grandmother Mrs Waldo Weston’s home. Guests included Courtney Mank Pamelia Johns Dianne Gilmore Peter Sarkis Burleigh Thombs Michael McNeil and Carol Ann Pankhurst. Attendees enjoyed music a decorated cake and refreshments as gifts were opened.
Pfc. Allan R. Elwell, Bath Maine, son of Mrs. Alice Elwell, serves as a rifleman with Co I 187th Regimental Combat Team of the 11th Airborne Division. He took part in a regimental task force push against North Korean resistance along the Tongjin peninsula north of Seoul.
The Bowdoinham Firemen's Ladies auxiliary hosts a Saturday food sale from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Curtis lunch stand to aid the skating pond project. P T A sponsors the effort with a Halloween scavenger hunt planned for Oct 30 and a town hall dance with refreshments. Donations of clothing are welcomed for boxes to aid the needy. Land for the pond is donated by Mr. and Mrs. George Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Merrill. Local groups discuss meetings at Coombs High School led by Lucille Jewel with a United Nations flag presentation later in the year. Community members attend Sunshine Society, Pythian Sisters, and Masonic Lodge events with various social and charitable activities.
Friday closes the third Kiddie Karnival sponsored by Huse PTA. Pony rides start at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. Harvest Booth offers canned goods and fruit while other booths sell popcorn balls candy toys novelties and candied apples. An evening dance for city 6th 7th and 8th graders runs 7 30 to 10 p.m. Mrs Stanley Woods is general chairman Norman Adams heads the pony ride committee.
