Light and the G A R hall at the Maine Veterans Administration Home in Togus hosts the Legion Auxiliary Poppy Work Shop where 200000 red poppies are crafted by disabled World War veterans. The effort supports World War dead memory, and funds care and education for orphans, disabled buddies, and dependents. The workshop, now in its fourth year, is overseen by Col. Keith Ryan with Agnes C. Bradley as poppy director and Anne F. Snow coordinating national poppy activities across 12 states. Participants hail from multiple states, earning one cent per poppy and a cap of 250 daily.
The Independent editor notes Bath New York City could reduce debt by purchasing $100000 in outstanding bonds at 4 1/2 percent. A cash sinking fund of $104394.10 exists with deposits from four banks. Buying the bonds would save about 3500 first year and 1000 annually thereafter, with additional benefits implied.

Two pocketbooks were stolen in Lewiston on Saturday evening. In one incident a thief snatched a woman’s handbag on Ash Street near the Lewiston post office. The woman refused to discuss the affair with police or to give her name.
Commander G B Vroom U S N recounted destroyer actions from Queenstown 1917 18 as the Benham served in convoy duty off Southern England. He described cooperation with the British Admiralty and noted the ship’s subs’ destruction. A luncheon followed. next week N Gratz Jackson speaks.

David Rich praises Envious Ruby's Spotted Queen, a full registered Ayrshire producing 50 pounds of milk daily on two milkings. He expects a second cow to freshen in ten days and potentially match Queens record. He notes triple milking could yield 60 pounds but prefers current feeding and pace.
Morse High plans several entertainments this month and next. The junior class play opens March 19 with nine schools in a one act contest. the winning school goes to the New England contest in Pawtucket Rhode Island. Genesta chapter No. 73 OEG staged a one act farce A Good Girl in the Kitchen at the Masonic temple after its regular meeting. Over 100 attended the Broadway Vaudeville style show with refreshments served by a kitchen committee.
A Maine Development Commission report shows record inquiries about state resorts in January and February 1932, up 130 percent from 1931. Total inquiries reached 2728, with 1432 from advertising, 112 unsolicited letters, and 1184 from Sportsmen's Shows in Boston and Philadelphia.
At the Dike school meeting 47 members discussed visiting schools and preparing for the upcoming presentation of The Spinsters' Convention. The next all day meeting is March 15 at Mrs. Elmer Sidelinger’s home with box lunches and a refreshment committee led by Mrs. Sidelinger and Mrs. Walter Smith.
Complaints to the Saco police report dogs barking through the night and after dawn disturbing residents. Dogs are said to chase cats, causing feline owners to keep pets indoors. Owners are urged to confine dogs at night and prevent them from roaming.
Arthur Sarkis won the YMCA foul shooting tournament to become the champion for the year. The event drew sixty two entrants with Jesse Levine a standout who lost in the final as Sarkis made 17 of 25 in the final.
Morse High School juniors report a successful annual dance with 300 attendees from near and far. Ernie George and his Ricker Garden Orchestra performed with multiple encores. permission to extend the event to 11:45 p m was granted. Coast Guard men in uniform attended, adding color to the evening.
Herbert Ross Brown of Bowdoin College spoke in Portland Sunday for Longfellow birthday observances. He argued that Longfellow is an important poet through lesser known verses and read several of those poems during his talk.
Mrs Elizabeth Libby of Limerick marked her 75th birthday on Wednesday at her son Glenn C Libby’s home. She hosted several friends and received numerous flowers and cards from a wide circle of friends.
The Bath Young Men’s Association board met and invited directors to the annual Church League banquet on March 21 at 6 p.m. They approved reader reports, thanked the Y M C A Ladies' Auxiliary for a leather settee and chairs, and authorized gratis memberships for needy high school boys. The group discussed a new locker room floor and granted use of the gymnasium for a March 28 cabaret by the Men’s Club.
Representative Henry C. Wright of Bath traveled with ex-Governor Baxter of Maine to a Berlin George Washington bicentennial banquet on February 22. Over 600 attended. Frederic M. Sackett spoke as American ambassador. Wright and Baxter then joined Arthur Dunning, left for Athens on February 24, and hope to be hosted later in Russia. Bowdoin freshman elected president John S. Holden with Edward Baravalle and Emer Hutchinson as officers.
