Morse High school senior Miss Jane Homan, the Good Citizenship candidate, attended an all day D A R session at Wesley Methodist church with her friend Miss Judith Brown. She received a corsage a gold bracelet and the Good Citizenship pin from the Colonel Dummer Sewall chapter. The event featured Morse High school Glee club performances and a forecast of the Maine State D A R Conference in Portland March 29 and 30 with future plans for an April meeting at Wesley church headlined by State Regent-elect Mrs Ezra White.

Budget Calls For Six Mill Increase In City Tax Rate
Bath taxpayers face a six mill hike if City Manager Stanley W. Judkins 1956 57 budget is adopted by the City Council. The proposed budget totals 1 368 059 36 up from 1 296 996 21 in 1955 with present tax rate at 64. The council also elected Merritt A. Mitchell as chairman and set March 13 for a public hearing on the budget. Largest increases include school operation capital improvements and protection of persons and property.
