Bath woman figures in Portland municipal court
A Bath married woman faced a Portland municipal court trial as Judge Max L. Pinasky warned taxi drivers to stop aiding the procuring of girls for immoral purposes. A seaman from a Portland harbor ship and a taxi driver were arrested Saturday at a Myrtle Street lodging house. The seaman admitted soliciting two girls for the ride and one, who lived in Bath, accompanied them to the lodging rooms. The assistant county attorney urged the taxi driver be found guilty, but the case was dismissed for lack of evidence and the girl returned to Bath. Chaaties Heath, manager of Woolworth in Bath, is attending the Eastern district managers meeting in Albany. Nathaniel Howe of Georgetown was a Bath visitor Tuesday.
