Bath malt beverage dealers seek uniform city price
Bath dealers in malt beverages met at City hall auditorium at 2 30 Friday afternoon to discuss a uniform price for beer by bottle and glass. The meeting follows a Maine Legislature act taxing beer 12 cents a gallon in addition to the existing four cent tax. The new tax raises the price on every 12 and 16 ounce bottle. The Bangor court heard a case about this. Recorder Edward Stern warned motorists that delaying license applications may not affect the court’s disposition. He argued suspensions or light fines punish those who delay obtaining licenses until after arrest.
