Massacre at Wiscasset and Swan Island Raid Retold
Rev. H. O. Thayer recounts the Wiscasset Massacre linked to the Swan Island raid and a later justice dispute. The piece argues the killings were unprovoked and driven by malice, not a white‑red dispute, with consequences that shaped Maine frontier history. The narrative segues into a yacht cruise of regional clubs to Camden and Belfast with governor Plaisted expected aboard and the Androscoggin cutter as convoy.
