Early Religious Services in Phippsburg Center
The Congregational church at Phippsburg Center recounts its growth under Rev. Charles L. Stevens, from early meetings across the river to a remodeled house of worship in 1846 47. It notes the first meeting house built by Mr. Fullerton and apprentice Larrabee, the 1824 windstorm that blew off the steeple, long day services, candlelit prayer meetings, and a rich parish life with a notable choir and local families attending from Arrowsic Winneganee Small Point and beyond.

Mrs Elizabeth Randall Seventy Five Years On The Bowdeinham Farm
Mrs Elizabeth Randall of Bowdeinham marked her 90th birthday on Friday the 10th, living four miles north of the village with her two daughters, two grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is a widow since 1855 and her grandson James Graves works in Amesbury Massachusetts while another grandson Sherman Graves is School Superintendent in New Haven Connecticut. About 40 old neighbors gathered at her home to honor the town’s oldest resident, a gracious host who recalls many past events with a sharp memory and a hospitable charm. She looked well, dressed neatly with a lace cap, and enjoyed birthday cards and a cake marked 182 and 1910. The celebration continued with refreshments and fellow townspeople offering words of praise and well wishes.
