City Council approves bonds for new sidewalks and land purchase
City fathers unanimously approve a $20 000 bond issue for permanent sidewalks dated July 1 1916 and due July 1 1936. They buy Scott Frye’s Commercial Street land for 1350 from the contingent fund and lease rails to Maine Central for the Kelley Spear road extension. The council also orders three hydrants on North High and North car barn streets, plus rental for a private hydrant, eight band concerts, and Independence Day bells.

A special city session discussed L A W Ry and Kelley Spear Co petitions for rail extensions to the Kelley Spear yard and spur tracks to ship yards. Corliss explained a 1000 foot extension costing about 3300, with city paying 1450 after contributions from Ford and rail leasing. YMCA Board Sees Membership Grow and Summer Pass Offerings
At the regular board meeting the YMCA reports a membership total of 332 after a five person rise. A special summer membership until Oct 1 is approved providing full privileges. The rooms host Morse High School Community League WCTU and Woman's Auxiliary meetings as upgrades continue with wiring lighting and new gym equipment including 100 steel lockers.
