Bath council discontinues actions and raises tax issues
The Bath council filled the associate planning board vacancy by appointing former City Councilor Paul A. Marchant after Edward Sewall Jr. resigned. An alternate Zoning Board post was tabled as John Preney stepped into a full member role following Rodney E. Ross Jr.'s resignation to join the Bath Urban Renewal Authority. The Elks band request for $200 aid for three summer concerts was rejected to avoid creating a funding precedent, with talk of private subscriptions or a funds transfer from the visiting sips account. Tax matters approved include committing 1960 property taxes to the tax collector with May discounts and September interest for late payments. Warrants for the June 20 primary election were ordered, with polling from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST on June 21. Delinquent taxpayers were warned that unpaid taxes may lead to property sales, noting $9,200 already returned.
