Tomatoes Warrant Much Wider Uses Claims Specialist
How many tomato plants to set out is debated as gardeners prepare transplants. Therese E. Wood advises six to ten plants per person to supply fresh eating and canning for about two servings weekly. She extols tomatoes for flavor, color, variety, and year round availability. The fruit supplies vitamins C, A, and B, aiding growth and appetite, and tomato juice helps infants’ vitamin intake while retaining more vitamin C when cooked or canned.
