City Appropriates for Permanent Work and Housing Funds

Twenty-two of twenty eight board members met for a joint session to discuss Bath housing tied to Emergency Fleet Corporation financing. W A Thomspon Jr of The Texas Co outlined shipyard needs and a $100000 city sewer street and sidewalk program funded by the fleet corporation with five percent interest. Officials warned the arrangement could burden Bath long term, while supporters argued the project would bring taxable revenue and city benefits.
