Mrs Elnora Oliver and her kin rejoice after Lt Jack Murrell brings news from Holland. A Holland family member writes from wartime exile, describing bombed homes, scarce clothing, and hope for U.S. liberation and reunion once the war ends.
The Pine Tree Society for Crippled Children announces Pine Tree Camp North Pond Oakland opens July 2 with pre camp staff training starting June 29. Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Kelley direct the camp. Virginia Bradstreet oversees the infirmary. Miss Mildred McGuire leads waterfront activities.
Two Bath youths charged with breaking and entering the Colonial Cafe and Huse school pleaded guilty to simple larceny of 8.95 from the Huse school. Younger boy sent to State School for Boys indefinite term, older boy to Men's Reform at Windham with suspended sentence and one year probation reporting weekly to a special officer.
Miss Lydia Diane Smith, daughter of Mrs. Claude S. Gillette, wed Ensign William Stirling Spann USNR at Grace Episcopal Church in a formal ceremony on a Sunday afternoon. The event coincided with the bride’s grandparents 49th wedding anniversary. Guests included former Maine governors Percival Baxter and Sumner Sewall. The reception followed at the Baxter home with a three tiered cake cut with a sword before the couple departed for New York City and Puget Sound Navy Yard assignments.
Firefighters battled a May morning blaze in a four story hen house on Lester R. Holbrook’s Woolwich farm killing shavings on the floor and threatening the new 2500 chicks due at noon. Wind fueled sparks from a coal stove. damage was limited to shavings and floor holes while crews used booster water lines and a bucket brigade.
Joint Fire committee votes 5 to 2 to purchase a 65 foot Seagraves Junior Aerial one man ladder, with order expected in 7 to 10 days and delivery about 200 working days later. The unit features an automatic 65 foot all steel ladder and 200 feet of ground ladders.

A Polar Star lodge special meeting at Masonic Temple on Wednesday evening featured Master Masons' work. Officers present included War Master Herbert Anderson, Charles Walsh, Robert Gallagher, and others. supper was served by Genesta chapter OES before the ceremony.
Morse high class of 1935 members will observe their tenth year reunion at the annual alumni banquet on June 14 per class secretary Mrs. Robert Cressey. Interested alumni should contact Mrs. Julia Paisley Goodwin at 1583 M.
A simple dedication at Morse High School unveiled the Gold Star Memorial Roll plaque gifted by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Mayo. The globe wall piece honors 14 Morse alumni who gave their lives for country. Rev. Dr. David L. Wilson offered the prayer as taps rang through the gymnasium.
A successful clambake and picnic was held for Bath Tron Works employes on May 27 at the old brick yard along River road East Edgecomb on Jesse Dodge property. Steve organized the bake for the Bath plant staff.

Sawyer and B I W workers hosted a feast with clams lobsters frankfurts and chicken on hot stones with rockweed and palat bread while horseshoe pitching and baseball entertained. Attendees included Steve Sawyer Austin McGee George Willis Glenwood Feere Arthur Moore and other shipyard staff. all agreed the event should be repeated.
