Johnny Parker, senior, and Bobby Philbrick, junior, were elected Morse High School baseball captains for 1949 and 1950 at a special team meeting. Myrtle Lodge marks 49th birthday with ceremony
The Myrtle Lodge United Order of Independent Odd Ladies celebrated its 49th anniversary Friday night at G AR hall Middle Street. A six o'clock supper followed, with charter members Mrs Gertrude Stewart and Mrs Lizzie Chaney at the head table. Highlights included corsages for the two living charter members and a birthday cake cut by the youngest charter member Mrs Chaney. Members welcomed guests from Brunswick Palo Alto and Miami and accepted an invitation to a reception by Merrymeeting Lodge 7 Brunswick June 10. The last Past Ladies club meeting was May 23 at Mrs Pearl Campbell's home. Continued on Page Two.

Memorial Day Parade Triumph in Bath Honoring Veterans
Memorial Day observances in Bath proceeded without showers and drew hundreds to the Soldier's Monument and Bath Water District wharf. Parade marshal Gardiner D. Rogers and chief aide Maurice J. Warner led a lineup including Morse High school band, National Guard, and Veterans groups. Rev. Curtis L. Stanley gave the Memorial Day address, with additional services at the Post Office and Honor Roll. Barbara Cooke was among Mary A. Burnham School graduates honored for contribution to school life. Bath Community Center crowns 8th grader queen
Jeanne Bergeron, an 8th grader from Central Grammar, is crowned the first Queen of the Bath Community Center at a Friday Coronation Ball. She won 5,780 votes over Mary Callan, with about 200 dancers attending and Bob Sharkey singing. The queen receives a loving cup, jewelry, notepaper, and will enjoy center access for one year.

Mrs George Carey Jr was chosen president of the Junior Hospital League at its annual banquet and meeting at Bath Country Club. Officers named for the year include Mrs Frank Givin and Mrs Horace Herrick as organizers, with Mrs Carl Dearborn as vice president and Mrs Leon Buck as secretary. Committees reported on a year of sewing for the hospital producing over 200 items with costs of 41.04 dollars for materials. Treasurer Rodney Ross Jr cited 430 dollars spent on a new oxypen tent and 500 dollars donated to the hospital drive. The gathering included 22 members and adjourned until September.
