A destroyer named for the late Rear Admiral James H. Glennon will be launched from Bath Iron Works on Saturday. The 2,200 ton ship will be christened by Glennon’s granddaughter Frances Reading Glennon of Forest Hills New York. Glennon received the Navy Cross for service as division commander of the Atlantic Fleet in 1917-18 and held multiple naval posts. He died May 30 1940. The new vessel is the second to bear the Glennon name following the 1942 first ship reported lost in Europe’s liberation operations.
