Five Islands Library extends Wednesday hours and local notes

Five Islands Library will be open every Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 4. Many new books have been added to the shelves. The local church report notes John R. Reedy filling the pulpit in Rev. Bath youths plead guilty in multiple break cases

A 17 year old Bath youth pleaded guilty in municipal court to two counts of breaking and entering and larceny and was bound over to the Sagadahoc County Superior Court October term. Richard Anderson faced similar charges with Paul Savage Jr. and others, with bond set and sentences pending. Additional youths faced related charges. several cases were continued or resulted in fines and probation.

Mrs. Don na MacMahan wife of Harold MacMahan died suddenly in Reading Pa. Services will be Monday at St. Josephs church Hawthorne with Holy Rosary Sunday. Burial in Holy Cross Los Angeles. Funeral services for Mrs Mabel Florence Hodgdon 83 wife of Robert A Hodgdon Malden Mass were conducted Monday at Center Methodist Church Malden. Born Georgetown she lived in Malden over 60 years and was active in the YWCA Crystal Chapter and Girls Club Association. She leaves a daughter Natalie Pollard Newton Highlands and a grandson Robert Pollard Amsterdam Holland. Her burial is in Forest Dale Cemetery Malden.

Robert W. Oliver 63 of Gorham, former Bath resident, veteran of World War I served in the Navy and worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II. He held engineer papers, belonged to Solar Lodge F M of Bath, and is survived by a widow, a step daughter Nell Austin of Kissimmee Florida, and a Bath niece Rodney Jones. Interment was at North Street Cemetery in Gorham.
