A 1930 Pontiac coach driven north on Washington street by Mrs. John Crane collided with a truck driven by Alfred Simmons as the latter turned from Shepard street. Mrs. Everett Lewis suffered minor injuries. Mrs. Simmons and their children were uninjured. The Pontiac had a bent headlight and damaged fenders. the truck was undamaged. Marshal Whitney investigated.
The Brunswick selectmen announced the 1930 tax rate at 41.75 per thousand, down from 42.00 per thousand last year. Brunswick is among the few nearby towns to lower its levy this year.

Hyde Windlass Co. workers forge a new propeller for the Governor Dingley after a June 27 collision damaged the old wheel off Machias. The wheel is expected to pour Wednesday as the ship heads to drydock in Boston before resuming service on the Boston Eastport Lubec and St John route with 300 passengers disembarked.
A Fourth of July fire damaged Robert Lakins home on Bowery Street engulfing the roof of a story and a half structure. Alarm at 1045 Friday morning arrived as flames had already breached the roof. Firefighters faced hose line challenges over ledges. Defective chimney suspected as the ignition source. Skyrocket started a blaze at Music Hall on Center and Washington Streets the night before the Fourth. Fire from a skyrocket lodged in the south gutter. Engine 4 used a pony chemical to extinguish the blaze.
Cards from Mr and Mrs John Crosby Wayzata Minn announce the June 28 marriage of their daughter Caroline to Richard Hincksey Field son of Hon Daniel F Field of Philips Maine Republican State Committee chairman He will reside at 49 Grove Street Boston after Sept 1 Field is active in politics and graduated from Hayard Law last month.
Daniel E Webber 55 a South China farmer died suddenly Monday at his sister Della Lampsons home 38 Edward street after arriving Saturday for a brief visit He was a lifelong South China native son of Andrew and Ellen H Webber He leaves two sons and two sisters.
Josephine Johnson a former Morse high school English teacher died. A Bath resident, she delivered a Biblical paper in Wesley church four years ago. Abe Libman Leo Libman and Helen Fine returned home after holidays with Solomon Greenblatt and Bessie Greenblatt who plans to visit Boston. Mrs An will spend summer with her son and daughter Solomon Greenblatt at 233 Washington Street.

The Flying Yankee locomotive, formerly Pacific 3689, is shown with a green boiler jacket and darker green running gear, accented by gold stripes. The tender bears the Boston & Maine insignia in gold, and the wheels are silver toned. The engine bears the name The Flying Yankee above the cab window.
