New England and Pacific States Dominate Apples This Season
Government reports indicate the bulk of this year's apple crop will come from New England and Pacific states with good prices expected. Estimates show 14 to 15 million boxes from Washington, California, Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Utah for eastern markets, with 4 000 cars needed for local and European trade. Crop values range from 27 to 24 00 per barrel, likely rising due to smaller harvests in Ohio and Missouri. Native strawberries are plentiful this year.
