A novel sunken garden in the old Hilton House cellar near Wiscasset attracts many Bath auto parties Sundays. Visitors report good roads on a 34 mile run to Pemaquid light, Monhegan visible 12 miles away, and pleasant shore weather.
Rev H O Thayer discusses the Purinton family of New Meadows Bath Georgetown and Harpswell detailing Humphrey Purinton senior in 1751 captives taken by Indians and French, later mentions Hezekiah Purinton and descendants, 1760s baptisms and migrations, and debates differing accounts of two 1751 seizures and their locations.
The Bath High School class of 1886 marks its twenty fifth graduation anniversary. Principal Herbert E. Cole led the first graduating class and has continued his work. Graduation ceremonies were held at Wesley Methodist Church in the forenoon, followed by a photograph and list of graduates including Angus Martin McDonald and Margaret Jane Adams among others.
The Kennebec Yacht Club plans its first cruise in years led by Topaz IV with Commodore Charles W. Clifford sailing to Portland on Monday July 3. In Portland they will be guests of the Portland Power Boat Association as Bath boats prepare a reciprocal visit. The Bath fleet includes Topaz IX and other vessels under Commodore Clifford, with a full list of officers and boats. Separately the orange hawkweed invasion grows in hay fields east of the Kennebec and in Lincoln county roadside areas, drawing attention from motorists.
