Power Life Boats Advance at Damariscove Station
The Damariscove life saving station receives its big life boat with a 25 horsepower engine from Bayonne and will be crewed by Capt. J. L. Staples and his team. Additional boats at Hunnewell's Beach, Popham, also return, with a 26 foot surf boat arriving this week. The new power boats have proven effective in heavy winter storms and are praised by crews, with safety measures letting any crew member stop the engine quickly if someone is at risk.

It highlights medical inspection needs during epidemics like mumps, student attendance rules, and general statistics: 3507 residents aged 5 to 21, 1907 pupils enrolled, 1614.2 average attendance, and teacher ratios across high grammar and primary schools. Steamer Island Belle Beats Ice to Reach City
The Steamer Island Belle struggled through ice on the Arrowsic flats and the Gut from Boothbay Harbor to reach the city. Capt. Pierce steered under full steam, sending passengers and mail by teams to the ferry, then pushed through the jam again to reach the wharf at 10 20. He fears only a heavy snowstorm followed by a severe cold snap this winter.

Mr and Mrs J Mason Schofield announce the engagement of their daughter Alice Morse Parsons to Walter F Lillis of Lawrence Massachusetts.
