First Lieut Loyall Sewall son of Hon Harold M Sewall of this city attached to the 18th Infantry in France has been in the trenches with detachments of the regiment. In letters to his father he speaks of the service as fitting men for the big push to come. Phil Wilson is visiting home and has enlisted in the Third Maine Regiment at Portland.
At the Junior High Friday week the 2nd Division performed excerpts from Dickens Christmas Carol but the event was postponed after the school united with Morse. Cast included Scrooge Louis Taylor George Acherson clerk Elford Stover nephew Raymond Williams and others. The program ended with America and the Star Spangled Banner.
Leydon mourns the death of 19 stray cats fed near his Commercial Street tobacco store. A mange outbreak appeared weeks ago, killing all but one that survived with help from Mr and Mrs Leydon. He suspects the disease came from a cat carried by its owner.
The Red Cross register shows names for Tuesday morning including Annie Be Cox and Millicent Clifford among others. Several workers on Wednesday morning arrived an hour early, eager to begin their tasks.

A Packerville Conn justice of the peace recalls severe rheumatism after Spanish American War service. He credits Dr Williams Pink Pills with his full recovery after years of sickness and failed treatments. The ad promotes the blood building medicine and a free booklet on blood diseases.
A group of young Hyde Windlass office staff enjoyed an icy evening slide on Winter street ending at the Park band stand. Afterward they gathered at the Colonial, with other hill parties noted. A new club named Happy Twenty formed by Texas Company and Iron Works men planned a future Armory dance.
