Maine Legislature Seeks Twenty Million for 1919 1920
The 79th Maine legislature faces a proposed twenty million dollar appropriation for 1919 and 1920 to fund soldiers dependents and reserves. About twelve million would require direct taxation, equating to eleven mills in 1919 and ten mills in 1920, the highest two-year rate since the Civil War. The call to action follows an uptick in state property valuations and a forthcoming boom project proposal.
