New Year’s Party at Wesley Church Draws Toward Night
Nearly a hundred Wesley Church members and friends enjoyed a New Year’s party and Watch Night services hosted by the Woman’s Society for Christian Service and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Activities included games, a swap party, homecomings, and a candle light service followed by Holy Communion led by Dr. Bell. music by Mrs Slant and John Haley, with readings and decor by a large group of volunteers.

A midnight canopy release of balloons and noisemakers capped the celebration. Bath Couple Observe Their Golden Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs George E B Levyn of 2 Turner court celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on New Year's Day with a family dinner at the home of their daughter and son in law Municipal Court Judge and Mrs Gardiner R Deering. The couple were married at Beacon Street Methodist church Nast Ponscott. Their son John Levyn and daughter Mrs Levyn Yao and their son George of Durham Conn attended along with granddaughter Mrs Robiald Parker and Mr Parker and their three children and Mrs Florence Parker. Mr Levyn retired in 1949 after twenty years in the rigging loft of Bath Iron Works and is among the last Maine ship riggers, having worked on the five masted schooner Marcus L Urann built at Minott ship yard. He sailed from Norfolk in the Bath ship Susquehanna to Cavite and Hong Kong for China cargo return to the states in the 1890s. Before Bath Iron Works he worked on the Carlton bridge and other interstate projects.
