The Georgetown Baptist Church dedicates a new bell funded by a memorial fund. The program features Rev. S. C. Whitcomb and Rev. J. B. Coy, music by Mrs. B. Rich, and a poem by Miss Eula Grey. The Ladies’ Aid Society explains the gift honors deceased worshippers and supports church repairs and improvements.
Mr and Mrs Elwood P Swartz announce the engagement of their daughter Edith Marion Swartz to Fred I Bradwell of Holyoke. Edith has been guest of Rev and Mrs Charles L Stevens in Chicopee during several summers. New Year's Eve neighbors gather at W R Bowies home to welcome the old year.
Social events New Year’s greetings and community gatherings fill the town as residents travel visitors arrive and warmth returns after sleighing ice mist and snow. Notables include Mrs Walter Morse Dorothy Winnegance Mrs J N Tibbetts Ralph Bernice Clifford Bertha Morse Elbridge Morse and Rev Charles L Stevens.
Mrs Mary Selover Hart, longtime Bath resident, died Saturday January 2 1915. Born 1833 in Auburn she lived in Bath most of her life with brief residence in Malden and Washington DC. Survived by son James W Hart and daughters Emma L and Susan F Hart. Funeral at 2 30 p m tomorrow at 96 North Street conducted by Rev Norton T Houser. Interment Fort Hill Cemetery.
Mrs Mary Povich aged 65 wife of Simon Povich died at her home 15 Arch Street after a year of poor health. A native of Slobodkin Russia she had resided here for years and is survived by her husband and a brother in Montreal. The body was taken to Lewiston for services. Captain Chester T Wallace returns from New York for a brief visit while the schooner Ada F Brown discharges 24000 railroad ties. Also stray notes on hay and apples for sale by F Up ton Winnegance Maine.
