All Maine Craft with Maine Cargo Sails from Portland
The steamship Maine sailed from Portland with a Maine crew and Maine cargo bound for the West Coast. Capt Ralph S Hatch of Round Pond commanded the vessel built in Bath in 1917 by The Texas Steamship Co. and piloted out by Capt Willis Wade of Waidoboro.

The Old Ladies' Home held its New Year’s Day Silver Tea and Pound Party from 3 to 5 pm. Guests toured the house, visited residents, and were greeted by Mrs. Dunton and Mrs. Barker. Music provided by Ruth Green, Mabel Whitten, and Elsie Wakefield. Mrs. Cahill led arrangements. A generous sum and supplies were donated to support the Home for the coming year.
