The Davenport estate totaling 1 718 million with most as personal property will fund a Davenport Trust Fund of over 1 5 million for charitable religious and educational uses. Specific bequests total 116 600 with recipients including churches hospitals libraries and educational institutions in Maine and Washington D C.
A huge steel bridge span near the Kennebec River, built at the McClintic-Marshall yard, forms span No. 4 for the Kennebec bridge. The 333 foot section, part of a seven-span project, rests on piers four and five and will be riveted next week by about 60 workers. 20,000 tons of steel are on hand with 26 cars ready, sourced from Pottstown, Pa.
Percival P. Baxter told the Bryant's Pond Grange two years after leaving the Maine governorship that he will speak out and act as a citizen on public issues. He criticized self serving politicians, praised Roosevelt, urged reform of campaign finance laws, and proposed an enforcing judge to oversee expense reporting and penalties with strong enforcement.
Rev. Forrest L. Littlefield of Wesley church addressed Rotary members at Hotel Phoenix noon meeting. President Bridgham chaired, Owen J. Ledyard introduced the speaker. Littlefield discussed social solution and its problems with pride in church work. Music was led by William J. Powell and theater guest Robert J. Kirk attended.

The Sagadahoc county commissioners met in the morning with Charles J. Dain of Bath named to fill the unexpired term of the late David W. Scribner of Topsham. Capt. Walter Mallett of Topsham becomes interim appointee until Scribner’s successor is elected. Mr. Dunn was elected board chairman for the year. George M. Stinson begins a second six year term, succeeding himself, and Charles B. Randall of Bowdoinham holds a two year second term. Mrs. William Cullity and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bowker were in attendance Monday. Mrs. Cullity to visit her mother in Cox Head for several weeks.
Frank E. Guernsey longtime Fourth Maine representative in Congress 1900s to 1917 died Saturday in Massachusetts General Hospital Boston after months of ill health. He declined a Senate bid in 1916 and earlier served as banker and public official. Guernsey born Dover October 15 1860 studied at Foxcroft Academy and Maine Wesleyan Seminary.
Probate Judge Walter S. Glidden began the January term for Sagadahoc County in Bath with a floral bouquet from Fred D. Til, Bath National Bank cashier, and numerous well wishers visiting the courthouse to offer congratulations.
Mrs William D Sewall wife of the City hospital president delighted New Endeavors members at the hospital meeting Monday night with her home motion pictures. Local scenes included Small Point and Fargo North Dakota where her eldest daughter Mrs Fred Heetor resides. Nurses and hospital scenes drew great merriment.
Miss June Bonney of Auburn visits her cousin Mrs. Jason A. Merrill on Grove Street during a brief stay.
