Otter Cliff House at Five Islands Burns Down
A spectacular fire gutted the Otter Cliff House a 24 room summer hotel at Five Islands on a Friday. The blaze started in the upper floor and is blamed on a defective chimney. Fire departments from Five Islands and Bath confined the flames after hours of effort. The sole occupant Antonio Nicholas a former Biddeford man lived on the first floor and escaped with nothing but his loss partly insured. The property was assessed at 2000 and could not be replaced today for less than 25000.
