Reduced Freight Rates Spark Farm Protest and City Development Plans
Farmers in Maine and rival states demand relief as railroads discuss ten per cent freight cuts on farm products. The piece cites New York and Boston lines, compares distances and rates, and notes potential profitability impacts for potato and hay shipments. It also sketches Bath Maine’s need for diversified industries, a coordinated campaign, and cautions against flashy public events in favor of sustained, organized action. It ends with political calendar chatter and a note on the 1922 automobile show season.
