Three men arraigned in Bath for intoxication

Three men appeared Tuesday in Bath municipal court on intoxication charges. All were fined $5 with court costs of 7.40. One paid, one received two weeks probation to pay, and the third had not paid as of Tuesday.

Two Bath brothers enroute to their parents home in Bath County met by chance at a Washington D C bus terminal. The Battery B 703rd AAA Battalion Maine National Guard arrives in Bath Portland Rockland South Portland for a five day New Year furlough. Buses from Savannah Ga. and trains, planes, private cars bring home members. Air National Guard transport had earlier completed a Christmas circuit but weather grounded one leg in Ohio. Wales Rotary Fellow keynote speaker at Bath club

Haydn T. Mason a Rotary Fellow from Wales and Middlebury College student spoke at Bath Rotary noon meeting. The Bath club proudly supported Rotary Fellowship funding aiding students from abroad. Mason discussed Wales history geography and current conditions amid a New England Rotary speaking tour planning about twenty meetings. Blaze at Community Center Traced to Dry Mop

Box 47 was sounded around 6 45 last week for a blaze in the Community Center started by a dry mop stored in a corridor. Fire was quickly controlled with only slight damage after smoke filled the center and YMCA rooms. Chief Richard Frates responded to the YMCA and then to the Community Center. doors were removed to enter, revealing smoke but limited fire spread.

Former Bath police head taken ill in Freeport

George F. Allen of Freeport a longtime Bath resident and former City Marshal suffered a sudden illness Thursday afternoon and was taken to Memorial hospital. He formerly lived at 341 High street and later moved to Freeport to live with his grandson Forrest Dodge. He served on the Bath Police force and as a guard at Bath Iron Works before retiring, with a daughter Mrs. Elmer Williams living on High street.

The couple were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Adams of Brunswick visiting from Wichita Falls Air Base Texas. Mrs. Black was given in marriage by her father. Refreshments followed at Mrs. Winnie Wrights home in Brunswick. The couple will reside in Illinois.
