Telephone seek rate raise to meet rising Maine costs
Company officials say 1947 earnings fell to historic lows and debt rose. Maine construction, new dial system, 13,000 new phones, 160 long distance circuits, and several new buildings show progress though further rate increases are needed to fund ongoing expansion and improve service. The proposed schedules would add about $148,000 monthly in 1948.
