Obituary of George M. McManus proprietor of Rossmore Hotel

George M. McManus 42 of Brunswick died at City Hospital at 12:50 a m Saturday after severe burns from starting a hotel fire February 2. He ran the Rossmore summer hotel for thirteen years and wintered as a teaming contractor. Survived by wife two brothers Henry P. of Malden and Charles E. of Lynn and three sisters. Services at St Marys Church with high mass by Rev J P OBrien. Burial planned in Brunswick. Hundreds attended including out of town relatives. Henry P. McManus of Malden was summoned home by his wife’s sudden death.

Thomas Shaw Jr. of Auburn died at midnight February 19 after a period of illness from a cold followed by a fall that caused a head injury and pneumonia. He was born November 3, 1802 in Richmond, son of Thomas and Isabel Shaw, survived by wife Jerusha Remick and six children, plus one sister and numerous grandchildren.

Mrs. Clara B. Frye wife of Joseph F. Frye died at her home 149 Hotland Street Lewiston in her 54th year. A longtime soloist in Lewiston and Auburn she was born North Vassalboro daughter of Bradford and Eliza Burgess Withee. She married Bath native Joseph F. Frye thirty years ago and they lived in Lewiston for 25 years. She attended the First Universalist Church and is survived by her husband and daughter Gertrude M. Frye.
