Civil Defense meeting draws about eighty in City Hall
About 80 persons attended a Civil Defense meeting at City Hall on Wednesday. City Manager Ralph F. Mittend opened the session and it was turned to Roy G. Stewart of Woolwich, who urged volunteers for auxiliary police firemen and wardens. He noted Maine’s progress on Civil Defense and a government film Pattern For Survival was shown. Dr. John F. Dougherty spoke on injuries and expected illnesses from an atomic blast and plans to care for the injured. Stewart warned of possible enemy air attack and jettisoned bombs. Capt. Dale S. Simonson inspected two lightships being built at Boothbay and will soon join Mrs. Simonson and others in Denair California.
