Governor Horace A Hildreth heads a Maine delegation at a New York luncheon of the Sales Executives Club featuring Maine chowder made with local clams and other state products. The event, arranged by the Maine Publicity Bureau and Development Commission, aims to showcase Maine industry and tourism to leading business executives.
Mrs Clinton Cunningham of Boothbay former Bath guest of honor at a stork shower hosted by Mrs Lau rada Kala on Bluff road last Monday. Pink and blue decorations framed gifts displayed on a matching table. Prizes went to Mrs Carl Cooper and Mrs Doris Marshall. Buffet refreshments followed in the dining room with a themed centerpiece. Carl L. Robinson hosted a birthday gathering at 54 Bedford Street on Saturday honoring Mrs. Robinson. Family from Watertown and nearby towns attended, including Leon Robinson, R. H. Cressey and son Robert, Joan Carroll Ring, and Bernice Quicksall, among others. Three birthday cakes and valentine color decorations marked the festive evening.
Judge Gardiner R. Deering presided Monday in Bath Municipal Court over two motor vehicle license cases. Aurelia B. Crockett of Freeport pleaded guilty to the charge and paid a $5 fine plus $4.70 in costs. A 16 year old Bath boy also pled guilty to a similar charge and was placed on six months probation under Probation Officer Karcher Jackson.
Pine Cone Girl Scout troop held an investiture and leadership ceremony at the Winapattegs house last Wednesday. Tenderfoot Scouts Katherine Carver Judith Costain Ice Freeman Ann Judith Quimby and Jackie Stannes were welcomed. Mary Burgess Georgianna McFadden Madeleine Kronstrand and Madeleine Kronstrand received First Class rank awards and the Curved Bar.
Bath community report announces a city wide Young Adults Club for ages 18 to 30 now forming at the Bath Community Center. New residents will receive letters inviting them to join. contact Russell Gasser or Norman Adams for information. Gasser is prescient pro tem and Adams is advisor.
At a Winneganee Skibo club meeting officers for 1947 were elected: President Leroy Perkins, vice president Burleigh Williams, secretary Edward Page, treasurer Ralph Tibbetts. Board of Trustees named Leroy Merry, B. Safford, Walter Rogers. Andrew Savage elected baseball manager with Harry Knights Jr. as business manager. Ralph Tibbetts to represent Skibo in Twilight Baseball League.
Horace W. Pottle of North Bath pleaded guilty before Judge Gardiner R. Deering in Municipal court to reckless driving charged by State Trooper Frank W. Powers. He paid a $50 fine plus $4.70 costs and was discharged. The alleged offense occurred on alternate Route No. 1.
Canteen opens Saturday night with 269 people dancing to Cliff Lee's orchestra. It marks the first reopen after months closed, managed by Albert Alley who offers sandwiches and soft drinks. The policy will continue on show or dance nights at the Center.
Mr and Mrs Charles Venos of the Candy Shop 150 Front Street returned Friday evening from a five week visit to Florida. They stayed two weeks with his brother William Venos in St Petersburg where his nephew John Tarkis runs a restaurant at 620 Central Avenue. They spent three weeks in Tarpon Springs the sponge capital with Greek relatives and sponge divers. They were there on Cross Day a major Greek holiday with over 10000 participants. In St Petersburg they met Mr and Mrs James E Drake and other Bath friends.
A Sagadahoc delegation to the Maine Legislature proposes a salary plan for county officers. They cite past increases for county attorney and sheriff, argue salaries must reflect duties, and note legislators’ own pay levels. They predict tax relief for 1947 after debt reduction and spending controls.

A small shop near Thebarge Bros. electrical appliances and linoleum store was gutted by fire Friday night at about 11 o clock. The loss was estimated at 2000 dollars. The Wick fire department and Brunschaval Air station crew assisted the scene.
