State Grangers take action on several matters
At the afternoon session Thursday the State Grange in Winthrop debated Fernald law repeal with restrictions to protect Maine interests. It voted against higher automobile license fees, in favor of a state highway bond issue, and against poll taxes for women voters. The group backed a three cent gasoline tax uniform across New England, rejected winter road funding, and urged legislative amendments to daylight saving laws. Resolutions endorsed jail terms for drunken drivers and supported Golden Rule Sunday and Near East relief.
