Combat Firing Problems Solved by Bath Area Soldier
The Army and Navy Journal notes Lieut. Barbour from Bath, now with the New York National Guard, helped lead a combat firing exercise at La Gloria Texas on Nov. 17 1916. Seven regiments fired nearly a quarter million rounds with no casualties, using point blank sighting and a staged enemy with targets at varying ranges. Major Chandler and Lieut Barbour evaluated fire distribution discipline and team play, with a high merit score led by the 7th Regiment and close competition from the 3d Tennessee and others.
