Three Auburn women and a driver from Brunswick were injured when a sedan left Harding road near route one and overturned after swerving to avoid an oncoming car. The Lunt vehicle was totaled. all occupants were treated at Memorial hospital with Lunt released Tuesday and Rowe remaining for a few days.

Bates Marine Superintendent at Todd Bath Iron Shipbuilding in South Portland was injured when his unlit car was struck by an Army vehicle as he backed from his driveway during Maine's first blackout around four am Saturday. He suffered a compound jaw fracture a fractured thigh and shock. Bates, son of Delmar E Bates and Mrs Bates of Bath, had been transferred to lead the shipyard’s outside machinists department earlier. Judge Gardiner R. Deering ruled probable cause in the larceny case against John Kenney binding the matter over to Sagadahoc Superior Court January term after a day long hearing.
