Two Phippsburg Men Bound Over to January Term
Otis McKenney and his brother Forrest McKenney of Phippsburg were bound over to Sagadahoc County Superior Court January term after Judge Gardiner R. Deering found probable cause on felonious assault charges against James Heald. Each man posted $500 sureties, with jail if not forthcoming. Heald, known as The Hermit, testified Heald identified Forrest as the shooter while Otis and Forrest claimed they were woodcutting and not near the road. Heald’s sister Maude Hartleb interpreted due to Heald’s speech impediment.
