Dessert Bridge fundraiser nets funds for 30th anniversary
The Cosmopolitan club dessert bridge at the clubhouse drew many players and raised over $50 to cover outstanding 30th anniversary expenses. Tables, flowers, varied desserts, and prize gifts from Bath merchants highlighted a pleasant afternoon with 20 tables in play.

At a Tuesday luncheon Rotarians and guests learned of a Rhode Island to Canadian Rockies trip made by proxy in a Mode A Ford. Rhode Island State College student T J Marcencella and three peers tested kerosene carburetor savings, visiting Shenandoah National Park Pensacola Dallas Grand Canyon Petrified Forests Painted Desert Los Angeles Hollywood and the Alcan highway region en route to Canada.

Opening Dates for Rural Schools Announced
Superintendent Stanwood C. Gilman sets opening dates for several towns. Arrowsic Dresden Georgetown Phippsburg Woolwich Wisccasset start Sept 7 with a 15 week term. Westport begins Sept 13 with a 14 week term. Five year olds on or before Oct 15 may enter opening day. Winter and Spring calendars will be set by local committees. Some schools will use two session plans due to enrollment.

Bath Honors Roll Name Strips Delivered Ahead of Dedication
Name strips for Bath's honor roll arrived Tuesday and City Clerk C. L. Hutchins said dedication ceremonies are planned for next Tuesday from seven to eight p.m. Councilman Earle P. Lermond heads the committee. Production curtailment postponed earlier ceremonies. the board on the Post Office lawn is ready. Strips are cardboard with raised black names and gold letters for those killed in action. Two strips per man exist in case of weather damage. Names to be inserted soon with final preparations left.

Bathman follows King George tour of North Africa fronts
Bathman David Brown, Bath resident and Reuters correspondent, accompanied King George VI on the North Africa royal tour covering Algeria Tunisia Tripolitania and Malta.
