The dinner ended with group singing and socializing led by William P Mennealy with Harry E Fullerton as chairman.
Patrolman Edward Newell cited a Leeman highway speeding case on Aug. 9 with a $25 fine and $6.05 fee. Two men pled guilty to speeding and paid $10 fines plus $4.70 costs. John Waterhouse and Douglas Kneeland were apprehended by Patrolman Babine on Aug. 10 and 8. Raymond Clark pled nolo to speeding and was fined. Clark also faced intoxication charges with multiple fines and costs. Two Bath men and a Woolwich man were discharged on intoxication charges.

Great grandmothers are Mrs Harry Deering of Bath Mrs Arthur Gilley of Bath and Mrs Frank Buffum of Berwick. The Buffums’ daughter attended Bath schools then Eliot High and a Portsmouth private school. The father is a Dover warrant officer. A late rain brought relief to the sweet corn crop now sold roadside fresh from gardens.
The Winnegance Vacation Bible School closed after two weeks with 28 children attending. Rev. Macy Whitehead led the closing program at the Winnegance Community House, with readings, solos, and crafts by primary, junior, and senior groups. Teachers included Mrs. John G. Morse Jr, Mrs. Macy Whitehead, and Mrs. Shirley Pratt under the Phippsburg Christian Service Committee.
Arthur E. Berry of Brunswick waived reading and pleaded note contendre to drunken driving and was fined $100 plus $12.30 costs by Judge Gardiner R. Deering after a Meadow road chase near Topsham. Trooper Knox filed the complaint. A Kingston, N Y man pleaded guilty to speeding 50 mph on Leeman highway and was fined $10 plus costs. An intoxication case in Woolwich resulted in a $5 fine and $5.60 costs.
Ten Bath area girls enter a Vacationland Queen contest at Garnet Pavilion on Saturday. Regional princesses advance to the Maine event at Scarborough September 5 to 14, then possible Hollywood exposure with talent scouts. Competitors include Marie Rosalie Wyman Nancy Arlene Boucher Esther Savage Lucille Giroux Jeannine Poulin Marie Ann Bouthot and contestants from Lisbon Falls and Freeport.
