Brann to Seek Democratic Nomination in June Maine Primary
Former Maine governor Louis J. Brann announced he will seek a third term in 1938 and enter the Democratic primaries next June. He was the state’s last reelected Democrat before the Civil War and narrowly failed in a U.S. Senate bid against Wallace H. White. Brann also criticized the recent defeat of a one per cent sales tax tied to old age assistance and educational equalization, saying the administration failed the people of Maine.
