Mrs Lettie Gahan of Day's Ferry age 80 walked two and a half miles to Sagadahoc Ferry to obtain her sugar board. A friend in a team carried her home the remaining distance. She lives alone and does all her own work. She has spun 40 skeins of yarn this year and knitted braided rugs.

Mr and Mrs John F Fitzgerald of Washington Street announce that their son Charles in the navy has passed his entrance examinations for an ensign school and left Bar Harbor Tuesday for Harvard ensign school. The course lasts three months with his parents traveling to Brunswick to see him off. Their other son Lieut Edward in the Dental Reserve Corps has completed his second voyage across.

ere nick of the Bath ship Edward Sewall and family arrived in Bath from New York via Bafigor. They passed a week with friends in Bath and left Sunday for Southport where they will remain. Capt Quick’s ship discharged at an Atlantic port. The Sewall was nearby a German submarine recently as Capt Quick spotted the Diamond Shoals light ship destroyed by a U boat a few hours later. Capt Quick is hale and rugged and dares the sea despite submarine activity.
George Lincoln Jr. of Wiscasset and Pauline Bergquest of Boothbay Harbor were married Tuesday at 4 30 PM in the home of A W Moulton 648 Washington Street The ceremony was by Rev Culbert McGay The couple will reside at 648 Washington Street after a wedding trip with Lincoln a Bath Iron Works time keeper and Bergquest an Boothbay Harbor telephone operator respectively
