Penalizing Free Expression and the IRS Debate
The Saturday Evening Post criticizes IRS rules denying deduction for lobbying against proposed laws. It argues such limits curb public power advocates, especially electric utilities, and threaten free discussion by taxation. Congress is urged to act and restore the right to influence public policy without punitive tax penalties.
