Exemption Claims Revealed by Sagadahoc Board

The Sagadahoc Exemption Board lists 150 men passed for the new army and notes exemptions filed for support of families or religious beliefs. Exemption grounds include wives, children, mothers, and other dependents. Some registrants did not appear and face swift court-martial procedures if drafted or desertion charges. Local board updates emphasize public disclosure to curb weak exemption claims and ensure patriotic duty.
