Whale and swordfish battle off Seguin ends with whale fate
A 70 to 80 foot whale fought a twelve foot swordfish four to five miles southeast of Seguin Light for about two hours. The swordfish drove its blade into the whale, but the whale rose and thrashed, eventually sinking the swordfish and then reemerging to continue the fight. Onlookers, including Capt. Herman Spinney and George E. Hancox, witnessed an extraordinary duel rarely seen near shore.
