Maine Conference Ends With Appointments Read Amid Threats

The 90th Maine Conference session closed with Bishop Hamilton reading the annual appointments list amid his claim that threats from laymen had attempted to force him to send favored ministers. He urged the conference not to repeat such conduct. The schedule lists numerous district appointments across Augusta Portland and surrounding areas, naming district superintendents and many churches. The statistician reported total membership 11,544, Sunday schools 20,001, Epworth League 2,777, and 664 conversions for the year.
