City bids opened for oil lubricants asphalt products
Bids for the city supply of oil lubricants asphalt tar were opened Wednesday with firms like Bath Service of Bath and Ring Jr submitting bids. The notices show a gasoline related bid price of 1445 per unit and 12.5 cents per 100 pounds for chassis lubricant. In 1947 six income tax returns filed with the Internal Revenue Bureau reported at least some income.

Chief Frates suspects a cigarette butt started the fire which grew before discovery as flames burned the hardwood floor in two spots and damaged other rooms. Occupant Charles Staples was away. neighbors raised the alarm from Box 323. Engine 4 used a booster line to extinguish the blaze. Damages run to several hundred dollars.
