The ship will visit Lima Peru Valparaiso Chile and Havana Cuba on its schedule. The Pensacola carries 44 officers and 568 enlisted men. A board will also consider buying David Henderson farm at North Bath for a gravel bed with a rumored price of 4000 dollars while Henderson would keep the buildings.
Former Bath resident Madelyn Wright of Fairfield to join Harold G. Freeman of Somerville, Mass. in a Friday afternoon ceremony at the groom's mother's home. Miss Velma Freeman served as maid of honor with Frank Harmon as best man. The couple plans a New York honeymoon and will reside at 21 Endicott Avenue, West Somerville, Mass.
Through the efforts of the parent teacher associations an audiometer from the Speech Readers club in Portland is used for Bath public and St. Marys parochial schools. Elmer Dow supplied transport to save costs. Mrs. R Clinton McFadden begins tests at Dike school and plans about three weeks for all sites. Only two such instruments exist in the state, both in Portland.
The Winter Street churchLadies Aid held a large Spring sale in the chapel featuring useful and fancy articles, home cooked food, aprons, books and candy. Volunteering at the fancy work table were Mrs Langden T Snipe and others. aprons sold by Miss Frostina E Marston and others. candy and book tables managed by listed helpers.
Ladies of People's Baptist church held a spring sale and supper on Wednesday afternoon last week with Nina McRae as general chairman. Bernice Cressey led fancy work and quilts and Elizabeth Hart oversaw novelties and handkerchiefs, Viola Seavey ran the aprons, and Minnie Putnam managed the main dining room with Hattie Sutherland and Helen Leonard assisting. A workers' supper was served in the men’s room under Eleanor Dougherty with Laura Pushard and Ethel Seavey assisting. Leonard directed the kitchen while Bertha Pushard poured and Cressey handled tickets.
The funeral of Mrs Elizabeth Craven wife of Albert E Craven was held Friday at eight in St Marys church with Rev Timothy C Maney officiating. Attending were Herbert Grindell Daniel Doyle Joseph Doyle and Frank H Beal. Burial followed in Oak Grove. Mrs Craven was survived by her brother James Cay and others.
Dunnack, long time state librarian and Augusta pastor emeritus, has led Maine’s state library service for 15 years, lending 100 000 books annually to rural residents. A famed lecturer and author, he promotes knowledge as civic virtue, guiding remote communities without libraries.
Cosmopolitan club sent 13 members and the Auxiliary to Winnegance Community club sent seven to the Union of Clubs gathering hosted by the Progressive club of Lisbon at Elmhurst. Attendees included presidents and secretaries of the Cosmopolitan club and Union of Clubs.
The Ladies sewing circle of the First Baptist church held their annual pre Easter sale and supper in the vestry last Wednesday. Tables featured flowers from Kennebec greenhouses. Helpers included Mrs. Larrabee Worrey Moore Wright and many others. The supper menu offered cold ham egg salad mashed potatoes creamed peas and carrots hot rolls coffee and cake.
Ralph Brewer of Wakefield Mass a Bath two years ago shortstop was a local visitor en route to his Summer home in Wiscasset He leaves Wednesday for Jeanette Pa to play with the Jeanette team in the Middle Atlantic State League this Summer farmed out by Montreal of the International League
Mrs Frances Lane of York street is advised of the death of her sister Susan Wing widow of Fred Wing of Uxbridge Sunday morning. She leaves twin daughters Carrie and Minnie Wing both of Uxbridge. Born and educated in Bath she lived most of her life in Massachusetts. Parents were Mr and Mrs Lewis Tetman. Born in the Bath homestead on York street.
Wesley Ladies Aid re elected officers for the year with Mrs. Carrie Sampson as president and Dora Lowell as secretary. The group voted $20 to the church, planned no meetings until May 9, and filled time with aprons, patchwork, and fancy articles. Six clubs represented, with program notes and federation talks.
Morse High School junior class organizes an entertainment and dance in the new gymnasium on May 9. William Bruce president and business manager names committees for Decorating Music Entertainment Social and Candy with several students listed for each role.
Bath Lodge of Elks installed officers for the ensuing year on Thursday evening. Elected exalted ruler Al den G. Smith led the slate with John P. Carey Jr as leading knight, William A. Perry as loyal knight, and Bradford P. Belang er as lecturing knight. Appointed were Arthur Sprague tyler Sam Povich esquire Lucius LeMont chaplain Joseph Smith inside guard and Roscoe Shaw secretary. Clam chowder potato chips ice cream cake and coffee were served. Cigars were passed with compliments of Mr. Smith.
Mrs Demerise Barstow widow of Frederick W Barstow died Thursday night at her home 667 Middle Street from a paralytic stroke suffered Monday She was born in Quebec daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Bowdoin and lived in Bath over 50 years She leaves one son William F Barstow of Bath two daughters Mrs Thomas Grindell of Bath and Mrs Carl Eaton of Bangor a brother William Boardman and a sister Mrs Amanda Willett both of Bath or nearby Maine locations remaining text cut.
Elizabeth K. Craven wife of Albert E. Craven of 44 Union street died Tuesday evening at her daughter Mrs. Emery A. Tillson’s home 107 Wood street after a year long illness. Born in New Brunswick she lived in Bath over 35 years. Surviving are her husband daughter one grandson James Cavanaugh of Chicago and sister Mrs. Frank Grace of Brooklyn.
Mrs W T Boyd died in Flasher North Dakota on April 8 wife of a former pastor of the Baptist church at Georgetown Center well known in Bath The funeral was held Wednesday of last week and burial in Wakefield New Hampshire
The funeral for James O. Russell was held Wednesday afternoon at his brother Ernest Russell's home on 54 South Street. Capt. Albert J. Warren of the Salvation Army officiated with two solos by Mrs. Warrer. Bearers were brothers Ernest Wendall William and Wallace Russell. Burial followed at Oak Grove.
The funeral for John Franklin Stilphen took place Friday afternoon at 2 o clock at his home 60 Richardson Street. Rev F L Littlefield of Wesley Methodist Church officiated with bearers George Spinney Clifton Spinney George Burnham and Fred W Bragg serving.
The funeral for Mrs Demerise Barstow widow of Frederick W Barstow was held Saturday morning at eight in St Marys church with Rev Timothy C Maney officiating. Burial followed at Calvary cemetery with pallbearers Thomas Grindell John H Grindell Joseph Begin and Carl Eaton.
The funeral of William A. Butler of Phippsburg was Thursday afternoon at two o’clock at his home on Snail Point road. Rev. David L. Wilson of Bath officiated. Bearers were Roscoe C. Perkins, Nelson Heal, Herbert W. Barbour and Mark Jackson. Interment was in the family cemetery.

Lillian A Barbour and her son Lyman W Barbour attended William A Butler at his bedside during his illness. He died peacefully Tuesday morning at seven. Barbour, Phippsburg Center, April 11, 1930.
Two Brunswick women, Miss Stella Des jardins and Miss Noella Desjardins, were injured when a coupe overturned near Bath. Miss Stella broke a wrist. Noella suffered facial cuts and head contusions. Bystanders Louis Preney and his daughter helped rescue them after doors jammed.
Woodie Moore of Brunswick sues Mrs Jueltin H Dunton Ottawa Bath for cancellation of a second mortgage on Bowdoinham property for 750 dollars in Sagadahoc County Court. Judge Pattangall presided with John P Carey Jr for Moore and Frank A Morey for Dunton. A second suit by Alfaretta Marr of Bath seeks cancellation of a 2250 dollar mortgage on the same property.
